Ben Carson Proposes Tripling of Rent

Sharing is caring!

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has unveiled their “Making Affordable Housing Work Act of 2018” and it is seriously alarming.
Ben Carson’s department would result in the poorest households to struggle even more with rental as it proposes to triple the rental rate. Virtually all of these poor households have an annual income of less than $7,000.
When the proposal is passed, about 1.7 million people will likely face eviction and end up being homeless. From the current 30% rental rate, it will eventually go up to 35% and authorities will be imposing work requirements in order for these people to receive benefits.
The proposal will drastically impact a single mother with two children and only has an annual income of $2,400 or roughly $200 a month. If the increase in rant will push through, this would mean that after paying house rent, the family will only be left with $48 a month for their necessities.
The proposal is the result of the presidential mandate to seek out new means of gutting existing programs and imposing work requirements.
