At the end of July 2018, smoking will be completely banned in public housing across the country. The full implementation will happen two years after the rule was passed.
The nationwide ban would mean that tenants can get evicted from their unit after three violations of the rule.
The US Housing and Urban Development will prohibit smoking cigars, cigarettes, and pipes in all public housing units and its common areas. This would also include smoking in any outdoor area that is within 25 feet from the housing’s grounds.
While there may be restrictions in some areas, using snuff, e-cigarettes, and chewing tobacco are still ok.
With the strict implementation of this new rule, will smokers finally get encouraged to stop smoking?
The band was introduced and passed under the administration of Obama, back in November 2016.
